Bekal

A small town known for its giant keyhole shaped fort, the golden expanse of a beautiful beach and serene backwaters, Bekal, is a relatively less explored region of Kerala located on the eastern shore. According to Bekal Rama Nayak, a local Kannada writer, the word, Bekal is derived from the word Baliakulam, meaning Big Palace. The place is said to have been the seat of a big palace in the past. The term Baliakulam got gradually altered as Bekulam and later as Bekal. The historic Bekal Fort is the largest and best preserved fort in the whole of Kerala, spreading over forty acres, running into the Arabian Sea. A picturesque and delightful destination offering everything from history to beaches to hills to backwaters, Bekal is often referred to as God's Own Country in capsule form.  Read More....

A Divine Experience

Every evening, as dusk descends, the banks of the river Ganges in the holy city of Rishikesh, light up with oil lamps breaking the darkness of the night and the resonating sounds of the hymns breaking the silence of the surroundings. Held at a picturesque location of the bank of the river at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, in front of a huge Shiva statue built on the river, the aarti here is performed not by Pandits but by resident children of the ashram, dressed in their saffron robes, who gather together each evening along with an intimate gathering of devotees to offer their prayers to the holy Ganga. As the sun sets the Shiva statue is lighted up and the ceremony commences with the singing of devotional songs, followed by ‘hawan’-offerrings to the fire god and culminates with the Aarti with lamps passed on from people to people and the children singing along with the spiritual head of the ashram in sweet melodious voices. The glowing oil lamps, the ringing temple bells, the brightly dressed little monks and the chanting of hymns is a truly serene and divine experience that stays with you for a long long time.

Hakkasan
  Luxe Restaurant

India’s version of one of the world’s most celebrated restaurant- Hakkasan opened in Mumbai in mid 2011. Styled in a unique combination of glamour and elegance, this modern authentic Cantonese restaurant serves a mix of contemporary yet traditional food. Behind the grand oak doors of this Michelin starred restaurant, a clutch of hostesses in pink cheongsams welcome you and direct you to your preferred dining spot, be it The Ling Lang lounge, the bar or the private dining area, to indulge in the culinary delights designed by Tong Chee Hwee, the head chef at Hakkasan London.  Hakkasan’s signature dishes include baked Chilean sea bass, pi pa duck, roasted silver cod with champagne and Chinese honey, and Peking duck with caviar. It also offers a dessert and wine pairing menu; should guests want to pick their own, they can choose from 125 international wine labels. We recommend culminating your meal with Yoghurt Parfait that comes topped with a quenelle of raspberry sorbet and a splash of black sesame sauce that makes this otherwise ordinary dish- a dish that would leave you smiling for days.

‘AUM’

The syllable OM is virtually seen in all Hindu art, temples and religious books all over India and Nepal. Om is not just a symbol or sound but it is the entire cosmos, whatever we can see, touch, hear and feel. It is the manifestation of God and is the primal sound of the universe that contains all sounds in itself.  Om is the reflection of the absolute reality, it is said to be "Adi Anadi", without beginning or the end and embracing all that exists. Aum is composed of 3 elements, ‘a’, ‘u’ and ‘m’. The fusion of these 3 elements is Aum or Om and when taken letter by letter, A-U-M represents the divine energy united in its three elementary aspects: creation, preservation and destruction. The chanting of OM several time loud, purifies the atmosphere, cleanses the mind, controls the emotions and gives you inner peace. Om is thus a mysterious cosmic energy, the power of which can be understood only by experiencing it- seeing it through the eyes, listening to it via ears and chanting it via tongue.

“Please convey our greetings to all those who were involved in making our Kerala Trip a grand success. A big thank you for arranging the specifics and for carrying out the details to near-perfection.
