Dear Friend,

Greetings from India!

April was as busy as it could have been. The Great India Travel Bazar, Jaipur was a good show. Some of our associates even traveled on familiarization tour post this event. Most satisfying was the comment from one of our business associates Melissa on her maiden trip to India, ‘India is fascinating. I’ve not even begun to scratch the surface and already in love with it. Just cannot wait to go back again!’

The summer season has already entered its peak with people getting ready to spend it in different ways. After the start of the Indian Premiere League 5 years back, the summers in India is now synonymous with this cricket extravaganza which will get over by end of May. When the sun is hot in most of India the weather in our mighty Himalayas is perfect to come and relish the other treasures we have- be it Ladakh, the North East India, neighboring Shivalik’s from Delhi or travel to Bhutan. In this edition of our newsletter we have covered the charming South India destination Coorg, explored a North East Indian resort and have also shared how India is fast emerging as the centre of contemporary art and culture organizing some highly acclaimed international events.

Most Warmly

Coorg- dense forest on steep hill

Dense forest on steep hill is the meaning of Coorg or Kodagu. Coorg is a land that fascinates and provokes strong emotions. Dubbed as the Scotland of India, this town has a lot to offer to each set of visitors be it tranquility and wanting to finish those 5 books which you bought recently from one of the stores but never got time enough, for those who would like to trek and wander off in the wilderness or the something which satiates the most- food, culture and cuisine. Like most other hill stations in India Coorg has a fascinating history too with shades of colorful British association. Of many facts the most colorful is that Queen Victoria of England was the godmother of a Coorg princess! The pioneer in providing an accommodation for upmarket customers in that region was Orange County resorts built on the theme of coffee; spice & plantation life. Brilliant place with its subtle yet impeccable service (fact of the matter is that you don’t expect much in such a surrounding). The resort has one side Dubare Reserve Forest and the river Cauvery on the other. They opened their second resort at Kabini in 2007 which we will cover in our later addition.  Read More....

Diphlu River Lodge- an exceptional location
  Luxe Hotel
Diphlu River Lodge has been there for few years in operation and has provided the much-needed top-class accommodation at Kaziranga National Park, a World Heritage site. Kaziranga as you know is popular for the Great Indian one horned Rhinoceros. The position of the lodge is second to none: only the boundary river separates its extensive grounds from the National Park itself, and the jungle views are exceptional. Assam Bengal Navigation runs the lodge to the same exacting standards of their well-established river cruises on the Brahmaputra and the Hugli which is another milestone they have achieved over a period of time. We will touch upon the growing interest in the river cruising in one of our next newsletter updates.  Read More....

Mustache- Our way, Indian way!

Being kissed by a man who didn’t wax his moustache was like eating an egg without salt. — Rudyard Kipling

Walking on the streets in India particularly the rural areas of Rajasthan will constantly keep on surprising you with the variety of mustache you see around…mostly a matter of pride but now also a style statement among the new generation. The style, its texture and upkeep changes with changing landscape. If lucky you may during your travel in India find a competition of some sorts for the longest beard and the longest mustache being held in one of the places you visit. Thus not only the smells, sights, sounds, colors, tastes of this devout and impressively massive country compile intense sensation overloads, but even its more than unique, the majestic Indian Moustache. The Indian males believe that the mustache symbolizes male vanity and it is known that the man with the world's longest mustache is from.........you guessed it. India (12.5 feet long, Badamsinh Juwansinh Gurjar has grown his mustache for 22 years).
