Abhaneri Step Well

Abhaneri, also known as the Chand Baoli is believed to have been built by a Rajput King. Sun shaded verandahs, which you can enter, overlook the thousands of criss-crossing steep steps patterned like an upside down Egyptian pyramid. Next to the the Baoli is Harshat Mehta Temple devoted to the goddess Durga. As per the beliefs, the goddess is always cheerful, who imparts her joy and happiness to the whole village. On the walls are the statues & sculptures of Gods and Goddesses which depict images from daily life, and the ruins of the temple still boasts of the architectural and sculptural richness of medieval India.
